Hidden Cameras
With all of the new digital camera technology available, one of the most pressing issues facing society is all of the brand new abilities for people to film each other in secret. Cameras are getting smaller and smaller, making them easier to hide, and digital camera technology has made getting a crystal clear shot that much easier. The abilities of hidden cameras have outpaced the law, and so there are many gray areas about where hidden cameras can and cannot be placed, and what can be done with footage capture on the a hidden camera. Beyond how people can legally use hidden cameras, there are people who use them for clearly illegal purposes and in ways that are incredible invasions of privacy. Unfortunately, thanks to the magic of the internet, much hidden camera footage ends up online, often unbeknownst to the person who was captured on film. Legitimate or illegitimate, many people are turning to hidden video cameras for a variety of reasons.
Why Do People Use Hidden Cameras
No matter how valid the reason may seem, there is always something a little shaky about the idea of using hidden cameras – it quite simply creeps people out a little bit to think that they could be caught on camera in their most private moments. And yet, many people turn to hidden cameras out of what they feel is a necessity. For instance, some people have hidden cameras in their home to make sure their nanny or babysitter is treating their child appropriately. Other people use hidden cameras to make sure people they have working in their home do not steal from them. Businesses often use hidden cameras in the same way, to keep an eye on their employees and cut down on the left, both by employees and by customers. Hidden cameras are also frequently used to settle disputes between neighbors about parking, vandalism, and so on.
While these reasons may seem like legitimate reasons for using hidden cameras, many people have used them inappropriately as well. There have been cases of hidden cameras in male locker rooms and hidden cameras in locker rooms for women, landlords placing hidden cameras in their properties, and men using hidden cameras when their unsuspecting women in their homes. These hidden camera pics are extremely distressing to the person caught on hidden camera, and the law is quickly catching up and making these activities felony crimes.
